FRENCH

The DELF and DALF diplomas are awarded by the French Education Ministry as certificates of French language ability for non-native speakers. Both exams may be taken in official examination centres in France and some 150 countries worldwide. Diplôme d'Études en Langue Française: DELF DELF 1st level: The first level DELF certificate is an accreditation of French language ability (written, speaking and listening). It is organised into 4 unit credits: Unit A1 Unit A2 Unit A3 Unit A4 Spoken and written expression Expressing ideas Reading comprehension and composition Use of French Each unit corresponds to around 100 hours' teaching. DELF 2nd level: The second level DELF certificate includes two unit credits: Unit A5 Unit A6 Civilisation of France and French-speaking countries Specialised expression Each unit corresponds to around 500-600 hours' teaching.

Diplôme Approfondi de Langue Française: DALF This is an advanced certificate of language proficiency and is recognised as fulfilling French language requirements for university entrance in France and French-speaking countries. It is organised into 4 unit credits: Unit B1 Unit B2 Unit B3 Unit B4 Reading Comprehension and Composition Listening Comprehension Specialised reading comprehension and composition Specialised listening comprehension and spoken expression
